Maun to Moremi Game Reserve

Morning: Depart Maun in a specialized 4x4 safari vehicle, heading north-east into the legendary Moremi Game Reserve. The journey takes approximately 3–4 hours, depending on road conditions and water levels.

Afternoon: Arrive at your mobile tented camp or lodge, settle in and head out on your first afternoon game drive through the lush Xakanaxa or Third Bridge floodplains. Look for lechwe, zebras and giraffes framed by dramatic teak forests.

Evening: Return to camp for a welcome dinner under the stars, with the sounds of the African bush surrounding you.

Full Day in Moremi Game Reserve

Early morning: Set out at first light, when the temperatures are cool and the light is soft. This is prime time for tracking elusive leopards, cheetahs and African wild dogs along the tree lines.

Mid-day: Return to camp for lunch, a midday siesta and time to charge batteries and prepare lenses during the strongest heat.

Late afternoon: Resume your game drive around lagoons, pans and open grasslands. Photograph fish eagles, herons and elephants as they move through the waterways.

Evening: Enjoy a bush sundowner before dinner around the campfire.

Moremi to Khwai Community Concession

Morning: Enjoy a final morning game drive out of Moremi, transitioning into the wildlife-rich Khwai Community Concession. Arrive at your Khwai riverside camp around lunchtime.

Afternoon: Take a tranquil traditional mokoro (dugout canoe) excursion along the shallow channels of the Khwai River. The low, eye-level perspective is ideal for photographing water lilies, frogs, reed frogs and malachite kingfishers.

Night: After dinner, head out on an authorized night drive with a spotlight to search for nocturnal subjects such as genets, civets, owls, hunting hyenas and leopards.

Exploring Khwai – Predators and Culture

Morning: Spend the morning on an off-road track session following wild dog packs or lion prides that frequently den or hunt along the rich margins of the Khwai River.

Afternoon: Visit a local community initiative or cultural interaction point to learn about indigenous conservation efforts and daily life in the Okavango periphery, or dedicate the time to processing images and fine-tuning long-lens setups.

Evening: Head out for sunset photography across the open Khwai floodplains, capturing striking silhouettes of acacia trees and elephants.

Khwai Back to Maun

Morning: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast overlooking the river, followed by a final short morning game drive as you pack up and begin the return journey to Maun.

Afternoon: Arrive back in Maun by mid-to-late afternoon, around 3:00 PM–4:00 PM, in time for outbound flights or local onward travel connections.
